It was absolutely gorgeous day at Starved Rock and we had terrific time hiking and watching eagles. Thanks Mike for organizing!

Our experience was relaxing and incredible. The weather ended up being better then I could have imagined for the day. Several times I contemplated removing clothing because I was too warm. It was disappointing to see so many people cancel on this walk or just not show up. I know it was a long drive, but it was completely worth it. If there is something that I can do to help to avoid this in the future please let me know. Thanks to the small and inimate group that I shared my Sunday with, and thanks to the bald eagles who graced us with their regal presence. What a spectacular day!

Delightfully invigorating :) I seem to not get out enough during the winter season, so this walk was just what the doctor ordered. Everyone was lovely. We all shared some good laughs, heard some nice stories, and enjoyed a beautiful day outdoors. Thank you Mike for all the thoughtfulness that went in to picking this gem of a place.

Thanks again Mike for picking such a beautiful place! How have I lived in Chicago all my life and didn't know there were local elks around?! :) (ELK grove village - duh! lol!) Happy to see they have such a nice place there. Yet again, I lost the group but it was nice and peaceful walk - I made friends with a family of three deer. :)

It was great to brave what turned out to be a beautiful day. Sometimes the greatest challenging in taking a winter walk is getting over the illusion of how uncomfortable it will be and just showing up! It was really wonderful to share that walk with everyone, and I was certainly pleasantly surprised that no one expressed comments or concerns with our lack of direction. That was truly more of a nature wander then a nature walk, and participating in this way has always been far more rewarding for me. Thank you all for being such a gracious audience for my poetry. I hope it added to the day. Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays All. Get outside a bit, so that we can share some stories at Starved Rock next month. See you there! Mike

I was delighted to see the turn out, and I want to say a special thank you to those of you that travel in from the city or from a distance to share in our company!! There was really something special in the chemistry of our group today and I feel like each of our walks are getting better and better. It is an absolute pleasure for me to co-coordinate these events with the exceptional partnership and guidance of the natural world. If you are enjoying these events, please spend some time soon at a natural place near you and submit to its granduer. Wander without destination and open your awareness to what may come! Really enjoyed the meetup. I met a wonderful diverse group of people from the city and suburbs ranging in age from 3 yrs old to grandparent:-). The group was very welcoming and Mike did a great job leading the walk. I especially liked the part of the walk when we were all silent which helped focus everyone's attention on the setting. It was an ideal way to spend a Sunday and I look forward to attending more of the walks.
