Please join us for a FREE Screening of the new documentary: "Green Fire: Aldo Leopold and a Land Ethic for our Time."
Summary of the film from the Green Fire website:
"The first full-length, high-definition documentary film ever made about legendary environmentalist Aldo Leopold, Green Fire highlights Leopold’s extraordinary career, tracing how he shaped and influenced the modern environmental movement. Leopold remains relevant today, inspiring projects all over the country that connect people and land."
The free screening will be held at the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum and is being co-hosted by the Museum and The Wetlands Initiative. Light refreshments will be served at 6 p.m., followed by the movie and discussion. Learn more about the Green Fire film here.
The discussion afterwards will be led by TWI senior ecologist Gary Sullivan and U.S. Forest Service staff and will focus on their work at the Midewin National Tallgrass Prairie, the largest restoration project in the Chicago metropolitan area, and how these efforts intersect with Leopold's message about our responsibility to the land.
This event will be a joint meetup event with the CIDFilms (Chicagoland Independent & Documentary Film Group). Please RSVP on this event page only (to your right). Thank you for your cooperation! And as always, we ask you to be please be mindful of your RSVPs.
Please use "Comment" area in the bottom of the event page to offer/ask for rides and post any general questions or comments.
Glad to have seen the movie. But ..... why do environmental movies have to be so boring. sheesh.
They don't have to be, Bob... Watch "Mike's Beautiful Life" (you can find the link in the sponsorship area on the left of our website) and you won't be bored! ;-)
Sorry but I didn't find this film boring at all - it the second time I have seen it. There were at least 100 people or more there and I don't recall anyone walking out and there was lots of discussion afterwards. It was a free event if you were not enjoying it - you could have left at any time, Bob, if it wasn't your thing.
Sorry Bob but if you ever watch any foreign films - they are always subtitled and not necessarily meant for the hearing-impaired. Furthermore, being hearing-impaired is considered a disability which is not ones' choice in life. I personally know several highly-functioning people, many seniors and family members who have this disability so I'm sensitive about this issue. Finally, many eco-friendly folks truly find "joy" in nature and work towards that goal. Also, watch "No Impact Man."
To all attendees: Please remember to update your RSVP's if your plans have changed about attending. The screening will be held in the South Gallery on the second floor of the Nature Museum. Look for Mike and I standing outside the entrance to the gallery and check in with us. There will other people attending this event outside of our group so we will have nametags available for those who want one in order to recognize other CGE members. We look forward to see you all there tomorrow!
