So it is getting really cold out, and maybe it seems a bit silly to take a nature walk in the heart of the winter. The river just might be frozen solid and the path may be covered by snow and ice. We will see our breath, and each other, and probably not too many other animals. Thinking about it right now I probably can't put into words a great sales pitch for why you should join us on a February nature walk, but I spent some of my most deeply connected times in nature during the cold. There is a stillness and a quiet to the atmosphere and a clearness which transcends to our thinking when a winter adventure is enjoyed. We would love to share this with whomever would like to. If you wear the right clothes and we stay active enough, I promise that the walk will be thoroughly enjoyed by all!
So the plan will be to meet and to hike up along the river, and experi
ence all that is there for us in the cold! I like to challenge myself to step out of my comfort zone a bit and see what I have been missing during my hibernation from the outside winter world. So bundle up and join us for an experience with the often quite peaceful and unseen side of the wild world. It will be exciting!
Please use "Talk about this Meetup" area in the bottom of the event page to offer/ask for rides and post any general questions or comments. If you need instruction on effective clothing choices please ask.
We don't pay too much attention to length and all of our hikes are casually open ended.
You are asking wrong question buddy!!! Mike hate to answer that.
Hello all.
I would like to meet everyone at area #2 of this forest preserve. There is a covered area with some picnic tables and easy access to the trail along the river.
The best way to find Area 2 is to enter on the western most Irving Park road entrance and follow the lot to the left. I think that all roads entering this forest preserve eventually lead into one another, so just keep driving until you find Area 2.
See you all on Sunday!
Mike
Hey, Fellow Eco-living'ers
I can't be there, but about 12 members of my Active 50's group have signed up with me & will join you....
Please keep an eye out for them & I'm sure you make them feel welcome !
Thx+++

Ken - Please ask whoever comes from your group to RSVP for the event. It's free and we would be able to communicate with all event attendees in case last minute changes. Thank you.
hello I am new. Is anyone going a little later? I live in uptown and looking for a ride? Otherwise, hope to see you at the next one!
This links speaks directly to the message I was attempting to communicate on our walk. http://www.guardian.co.uk/sustainable-business/zen-thich-...![]()
