Community Garden Bus Tour - Northside

This location is shown only to members

Join us for a FREE guided bus tour of Chicago's community gardens. We will visit 5-7 of Chicago's hidden Edens while learning about the incredible past and future of urban gardening and agriculture in our City. The north side tour might include a visit to the Peterson Victory Garden, Bowmanville Gateway Garden, Ginkgo Organic Garden and Ruby Garden at Schreiber Park among other places.

The Bus Tour will begin and end at the Chicago Tourism Center, 72 East Randolph. The duration of the tour is from 10 am to 1 pm. Taking public transportation is highly recommended.

Tours are FREE of charge but donations are accepted by the tour organizers. All donations collected will go to a different community garden so they can build raised beds, buy tools and continue to grow. RSVP on their website (see link below) is required to guarantee your seat on the bus. Please RSVP on their website first before RSVP on the meetup page.

Tours are in conjunction with the exhibit, "City Is A Community Garden," which looks at urban gardens, vertical farming in the city, and urban chicken keepers through photographs, architectural drawings, and installations. You're welcomed to view this indoor exhibit before or after the tour.

Registration is required at: http://communitygarde...

EVERYONE MUST BE REGISTERED AT THE EVENTBRITE SITE.
An RSVP on our site alone is not considered a true RSVP/registration. Those who do not register at that site will not have a reserved seat on the bus and can not attend.

Erika ~ That's fine! You can adjust your RSVP at our site accordingly. It's more important to be registered at EventBrite and then with our group in that order. We look forward to seeing everyone there.

My pleasure, Cara. Because of this tour, I see this video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PZ549BX8sp4) through much different eyes.

Here's another story about how people are transforming empty lots into something positive for the entire community. http://www.myfoxdetroit.com/dpp/news/foxe_reports/urban-g...

Very inspirational event. My Mother feels like she wants to do something similar in Mumbai, India.

Wonderful event! Inspirational. Informational. Seeing "hidden" garden gems I never knew about... talking with and learning from community gardeners and NeighborSpace gave me a strong sense of hope and excitement about a vacant lot near my home in Bronzeville. THANKS Vadim, Siri, Margaret, Cara and everyone who made this possible.
