"Home" Screening and Discussion

Per some of your recommendations we are going to watch "Home"
"Home" is a 2009 documentary by Yann Arthus-Bertrand. The film is almost entirely composed of aerial shots of various places on Earth. It shows the diversity of life on Earth and how humanity is threatening the ecological balance of the planet. The movie was released simultaneously on June 5, 2009 in cinemas across the globe, on DVD, Blu-ray, television, and on YouTube. By opening in 181 countries, the film broke the world record for the largest film release in history.

The movie is about one-and-half-hours long and will be followed by a discussion. Then we will have some socializing/networking along with some food samples donated by Loving Hut restaurant!
Free movie, interesting discussion, and free food - anything else can we wish for?
This is a joint event between Chicago-land Green & Eco-Living (CGE), ChicagoVeg, and Chicago-land Documentary and Indie Films (CDIF)

Erika HarrisThis screening of "Home" was my first CGE event, and it was wonderful! I was really moved by the generosity of the organizers/volunteers and the passionate intelligence of those who attended. Loving Hut's food was delicious and the after-film conversations were stimulating. I'd never expect a documentary to address the myriad of eco-challenges we face... just to provoke our thoughts and actions in response to them. Mission Accomplished.

LindaThank you for picking this movie to view. After the introduction, where all things were not only beautiful, but the earth's creation was explained, I started to get a sense of hopelessness. I was really happy, to learn, at the end of the film, that some countries are doing things right. That some places in the world are being safeguarded, and that the idea of sustainability is growing.
Incidentally, there was a LEED contractor in the audience, who I lost sight of, during my chats with others. I have so many questions to ask him, and I can't help but wonder if he might be willing to conduct a post event lecture, for a future event, on things people can do around their homes....especially if a remodel is being planned. If not, maybe he can just contact me, since I'd like to make some plans.
